Hi everyone, far out can you believe we are at the end of the first 3 months of the year already and its nearly Easter time? I have a slightly different project this month inspired by Finnabair to share with you. She has to be my most favourite mixed media artist by far.
I decided to junk up a glass bottle I found in New world while shopping for only $1.40 and immediately the light bulb came on! I prepped the bottle by applying a coat of Finnabair Art Basics Heavy Black Gesso over the area and then set aside to dry. Once dry I then covered the area with texture paste &
while the texture paste was still wet I scrunched up some cheesecloth and brushed PVA over it to make it stiff. I then started placing down my metal findings, a cupid, various paper flowers and charms. I adhered these by embedding them into the wet texture paste then setting aside to dry overnight.
Next day I painted it all in Black paint and then painted the embellishments with Prima's Art Alchemy Opal Magic Paints. Once that was dry I rubbed inka gold to highlight the edges a bit more and added a brass linked chain to the neck to finish it off nicely.
I look forward to using this as a perfume diffuser in my craft room!
Well Crafters? I hope this inspires you to create a masterpiece for yourself and turn that old bottle or jar into something amazing!
Be sure to check out Faith's shop where you will find embellishments, texture pastes, paints, gesso's & inka gold rubs or waxes.
Till next time take care and keeping smiling.
