Altered Clock - Guest Designer Christine

August 9, 2016

Hi, my name is Christine and I am delighted to have been asked by Faith to be a guest designer for Faith Pocock Craft Studio Ltd.

A little about myself....

I live in Westport on the West Coast of the South Island in New Zealand. I am married to Mark, my best friend for 31 years and we have 3 wonderful children that are all grown up. We run our own Dairy Farm and have an amazing lifestyle. Fortunate for me, I am able to craft at home and do all the things I love. Mostly self taught, I have been crafting for many years. I am a certified teacher in ceramics and besides gardening some of my other love for crafts include Teddy Bear Making, Mosaics and Stained Glass just to name a few. Recently I discovered Mixed Media and well, this is what you will find me doing, most days and most nights.

Here's the process of my first project,  my Mixed Media Altered Clock

I prepped all my MDF pieces by applying a coat of Black Gesso.  I set them aside to dry.  Whilst waiting, I covered some of the clock pieces with paper using Mod Podge.  I chose some random papers from my stash then inked all the edges with Distress Ink in Walnut Stain.

Now the fun part! Arranging all the embellies. I used a mixture of gears, filigrees & a couple of bling pieces. Once I was satisfied with the placement of my embellishments I glued them into place using E6000.

Once the glue dried, I then coated all my pieces with some more black gesso.

I used Art Alchemy Acrylic paints for highlighting in the following colours... Royal Red, Fresh Orange and Steampunk Copper.

To finish off, I assembled the clock mechanism and clock hands. There you have it, a masterpiece ready to hang.

Hope you have all enjoyed my first project and thanks for joining me today.  Please check out Faith's store for all the supplies I have used to create this clock.
