Mixed Media Altered Artist Palette

Hey all, welcome to another post for Faith Pocock Craft Studio Ltd. Today I have a project that has been on my Pinterest to-do list for quite some time. I first saw these altered artist palettes one night whilst merrily pinning away (as you do) and I have been dying to get my hands dirty with one. I tracked down some palettes and this is what I created.

I first gave my palette two generous coats of white gesso on both sides and then messed about with a heap of metal filligrees, charms, cogs, resin pieces, metal flowers, resin flowers and a fabric doily. I played around with the direction and layereing before finally settling on the landscape orientation and the embellie cluster you see below. Then I took heaps of pics, because, I don't know about you, but once I move them, I am darned if I can ever remember the exact layout I had going.

My next step was to glue everything down using E6000 and give everything a couple of coats of gesso. Oh no!! I forgot to mention I also added some texture by using some stencils and the Art Basics Modeling Paste - Opaque Matt.

Whilst I was waiting for this to dry I decided to pick out some sprays and I ended up with the following Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays - Jack in the Pulpit Teal; Sweet Violet Purple Teal; Gossamer Gold; Wisteria Purple blue and lastly Glitz Spritz Blazing Sun. Below are a selection of photos I have taken at different angles trying to pick up the gorgous colours and the glimmer. I have also rubbed some gold metalic ink over the raised surfaces and I dry brushed some gesso to the beads and letters....

and here are some glamour pics....

Thanks for joining me today. Please be sure to check out the store for the range of Lindy Stamp Gang Sprays, Prima Art Basics Modelling Paste and The Crafters Workshops Stencils currently available

till next time...

....remember to live your bliss......
